Celtic Lakes Resort - home of the Wales Carp Masters

Celtic Lakes Resort produces new Welsh record - 20th May 2007

Wales Carp Masters at Celtic Lakes ResortImagine our delight at the WCC HQ when news reached us of a new record being set on the match held 4th-6th of May at Celtic Lakes!!

The staggering news that the total weight of 1418lbs of carp had been banked by the competitors taking part in the 40 hour match was remarkable enough, but to hear that it had established a new benchmark was incredible.

John Carney, owner of the fantastic Celtic Lakes Resort was obviously delighted, and congratulations go to John for all the hard work and considerable investment of time and money that he has put into the complex to make it the amazing venue it is.

The winning pair, Craig Jones and Karl Jones, banked a mightily impressive 354lbs 9oz of carp, narrowly fending off the equally impressive efforts of Karl Hopkins and Arun Keightley, the 2nd placed pair, who bagged a whacking 333lbs 15oz.

The pair had this to say:

Celtic Lakes Resort produces new Welsh record"We would like to take this opportunity first off by thanking John and the lads at Celtic Lakes for a great barbeque and an awesome weekend of fishing. It was clear how much hard work and dedication they had all put into the lakes as it was the best session we have ever had, netting 354lbs 9ozs over the course of the weekend."

"Being our first competition in 12 years of fishing, competing in the Welsh Carp Masters qualifiers had to be the most exciting experience, but also the most demanding!"

"We had to work hard to bring in the fish, which meant no sleep for the first 24 hours, however it was worth it as it was during this time that we netted most of our total."

"We discovered small PVA bags of pellets worked for us on the day along with the help of a lucky Buddha!"

"Looking forward to the final and meeting all the other participants; should be a laugh! See you soon."
