Celtic Lakes Resort - latest venue news !!

British Catfish Championship and Katmandoo Charity Shield - June 2009

Katmandoo Charity ShieldCeltic Lakes played host last week to two major catfish competitions, the inaugural British Catfish Championships and the Katmandoo Charity Shield, fished to raise money for the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity www.helenrollason.org.uk

Nearly 50 anglers competed for both competitions and the results were:

Sally Perry Memorial Shield went to Simon lock and Steve Norris for highest weight for a pair 151 lbs 12 oz (14.8, 6.5, 17.75, 6.5, 6, 12.5, 19.25, 7, 19, 7, 24, 11.75 lbs) 12 Fish
Jamie Carney Memorial Cup went to Dave Johnson for the Largest Fish 28 lbs 4oz
Katmandoo Team Cup
went to Moggymagic Team for the highest weight for a team of eight 47lbs 10oz ( Two fish caught by Maurice Johnson 17.5 and 18.5 double hook up too and Adrian Hills 11.11 lbs)

Other fish caught as follows
Ian Whittaker one cat for 22.12 lbs
Rod Blundall one cat for 12 lbs

18 fish in total banked

Prizes awarded for the above events were:

Ebro holiday for two donated by Adventure Fishing Holiday's by Kevin Midmore and Paul Grothier Sally Perry Memorial Shield
Fishing for eight people at Milin-de-Ruchec Brittany France donated by Mr David Priest Katmandoo Team Cup
One weeks fishing at Celtic Lakes including use of the 5 star chalet donated by Mr John Carney Jamie Carney Memorial Cup

British Catfish Champion -
Simon Lock for 83 lbs
British Catfish Pairs Champions - Simon Lock and Steve Norris for 151 lbs 12oz

A big well done to the above anglers and a huge thank you to Kev and John for their hard work and enthusiasm in making this event a huge success and raising a shed load of money for a great charity.

Plans are already being worked on for next years catfish competitions and we will shortly be announcing some exciting news about the inaugural World Catfish Championship that will be run for the first time in 2010. Watch this space !!
