Summary:
Lake 5 producing lots of carp of all sizes. You can expect in excess of 15 fish on a day session. Float fishing in the margins with corn, catmeat and handfull of pellets each cast is an exceptional method at the moment.

Lake 6 producing cats up to 33lb with average cat between 20 / 30lb. Fishmeal boilies over beds of pellets available from our tackle shop accounting for a lot of fish. Carp are being taken from island margins as well as bankside margins. Pellet bags working well. The carp still follow the wind.

Fish Caught: mirror carpcommon carpcatfishroachrudd

Summary:
From Swansea. Weather was warm and sunny in the day, becoming windy at night. Fished into the wind. Arrived at about 4pm, but all the cats and carp came between 10pm and 7am with a run every 1/2 hour during those times. As a consequence, had little sleep, but a great time! Lost 2 cats as well! Bob hadn't banked a cat before, so the 22lber was worth the wait, and put up some fight!

Notable Fish:
7 carp and 4 cats.
Biggest cat 22lb with others at 3lb, 10lb and 12lb.
Biggest carp 21lb, others ranging from 7 to 15lb.

Tactics and bait:

Fish Caught: mirror carpcommon carp

Summary:
This was the best days fishing I've had in a few years. It started off very quiet in the first hour. So i decided to bait all the surrounding margins with groundbait, sweetcorn, hemp, trout pellets and dog biscuits. This helped me to see where abouts the carp were feeding more. Once I had found them I fished consistently throughtout the day in the same place and it certainly paid off for me! Thanks to everyone at Celtic Lakes for a great day!

Notable Fish:
3 x 18lb commons ( biggest was 18lb 4oz )
1 x 16lb 4oz mirror
about 3 - 4 commons ranging from 13lb - 15lb
4 x 12lb commons and 1 x 14lb mirror
9 carp mirrors and commons underneath 10lb smallest being 4lb mirror

Tactics and bait:
Best bait of the day was getting whole thick sausages and cutting them in half and placing on a light hair rig with a size 8 wide gape hook. Fox 2.25 oz lead inline with rig tubing usued and was very effective. Left hand rod was using a bolt rig and a pop up hair rig. ( thick strip tease and big size 8 hook with dynamite baits Frank warwicks spicy tuna and sweet chilli pop ups ) I had this pop up popped off the bottom about an inch as the carp were very active on the top.

Fish Caught: mirror carpcommon carp

Summary:
I'm local, from New Quay and have fished the fishery a number of times and have never been let down with the quality of the fish, Always fish with the baits you think won't work as they tend to do so! I highly recommend the Richworth handy pack boilies especially the K-G-1 and Pineapple Hawaiian!

Notable Fish:
The 1st run I had was off a catfish but unhooked itself or dropped the bait. The 2nd run was off a very big carp easily 20lbs but lost it. The 3rd run was off another catfish but also lost that. I changed the hook size to a size 8 and had a 17lb 5oz common! Then plenty of 7lb mirrors and 10lb commons throughout the day.

Tactics and bait:
I got a kg of dynamite baits swimstim groundbait, got a 900g tin of hempseed, big tin of cheap sweetcorn, bag of 10mm halibut pellets and some Koi micro green pellets and mixed it all up into a damp mixed, enough to make balls with. Also I added some Richworth K-G-1 boilies to the mix and fed next to some lilies. This produced well, I could recommend that mix to anyone. You will need a good amount as I had to put in quite alot to keep the carp feeding!. But start off with small amounts as it may spook the carp.

Date: 8th June 2009 Lake Fished: 5

Conditions:

Fish Caught: mirror carpcommon carp

Summary:
Weather was breezy and cloudy with rain overnight. Came up from Swansea. Dewi hadn't been coarse fishing before, but after all those carp is bound to go again! Pulled the rods in at midnight for 4 hours to get some kip! Dewi certainly learned how to catch carp as we had 2 on at the same time on 3 occasions. There's a lot of small carp in lake 5 now, more than when I fished it last year, but John told me that they are going to take them out at some point.

Notable Fish:
4 commons over 10lb. Biggest 12.5lb
Total of 30 fish in 20 hours, most around 5lb

Tactics and bait:
Didn't use any free offerings at all! Just fluoro hooklinks and snowman boilie rigs. Did put a rig out for the cats with 3 halibut pellets but only managed 3 carp under 5lb on it, including a 1lb common!!

Fish Caught: common carpmirror carpbream

Summary:
I am from LLansaint South West Wales, and this is my first visit to Celtic Lakes. The weather was warm, but a little bit windy on at the beginning, and then in the night it was windy and raining heavy until Wednesday afternoon. Fished from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday afternoon.

Notable Fish:
This was my first time fishing at this resort, and I was very impressed by the standard and quality of the fishing. I arrived here at 17:00 hours, and we started fishing very shortly after we got there. Within minutes of fishing, I caught two 1.5lb bream and they were a decent size. Shortly after I caught the two bream, I caught a 4lb common carp, and a 5lb mirror carp. Shortly after I caught more carp roughly the same size and below. We then set up the bivvy and prepared for the night fishing.

I caught many carp in quick succession, and the biggest one was an 11lb mirror carp. This is a personal best fish for me. The morning came and fishing was quick. I caught two 9lb common Carp and a 9.5lb mirror carp, and I was very pleased. I then caught many more carp around the 2-5lb mark. I caught the 11lb in the margins, and the rest of the fish in the centre of the lake.

Name: Gary Wadey Age: - From: -
Date: 24th May 2009 Lake Fished: 6

Conditions: -

Fishery Update:
Lake 6 starting to produce lots of fish to individual anglers now the water temp has risen. A lot of fish are in the throes of spawning so bear this in mind when you hook and play them to the net. Maize accounting for more fish than boilie approach at the moment. Fishing the margins during darkness produces and open water produces during daylight. The cats are now making regular appearances and don't appear to be fussy about what they eat. General carp tactics, boilie approach with pellets/ bags seem to be doing the business.

Don't forget to send in your catch report as it is an invaluable tool of info for other anglers who are visiting our waters. Tight lines.

Summary:
Decided to fish an overnight session as weather had been quite settled for the last few days with regards the air temp and wind direction and the fish have started to show around the lake. Towards the eve wind dropped right off and cloud disappeared resulting in clear cold night as temp dropped to 1 degree and a ground frost. Not ideal conditions but was quite happy with the 3 fish at the end of session.

Fish Caught: Mirror Carp Common Carp

Summary:
This was my second trip, the first was early last December when I caught 3 carp between 6 and 14lb also on Lake 5. I drove up from Swansea (1hr 15min drive) and arrived at 09-00hrs. Weather was dry with little wind and about 6 degrees temp. Being partially disabled this venue is excellent as access is very good with very tidy pegs to fish from, and hopefully I will come here on a regular basis. It is a little more expensive than some other "specimen" venues but the owners have put in a lot of work around the site and Gary, the bailiff, was very helpful when I was there.

Notable Fish:
Mirror carp 5lb 8oz
Common carp 9lb 8oz

Tactics and bait:
kiwi and crustacean double boilie hair rigged to size 12 gardner mugga barbless on rod 1.
Single piece of pepperami hair rigged on size 12 gardner mugga barbless.

Summary:
It was my first time fishing lake 3 and it was a cool start to the morning. During the day I began to warm up nicely but i still had no luck. I moved one of my rods every hour to find the fish but I still could not find them ... the other rod I kept in the margins and every 30mins I would flick in a few pieces of maize. By now it was 3 o'clock and I only had another 2 hours left so I decided to move to Lake 4 because I had nothing to lose. Within 10mins of being there I had a screaming take and as my margin rod bent to the left and I had a nice lower double mirror then a 6 other fish followed including a 15lb 2oz mirror and a 15lb 12oz common.

Notable Fish:
5 common carp biggest=15lb 12oz, 2 mirror carp biggest=15lb 2oz

Tactics and bait:
Size 10 wide gape b korda hook with 8lb fluro carbon hook link. And with a simple running inline lead. I fished 2 pieces of maize over a hand full of hemp in the margins.
